Wineries

With 200 wine producers to explore, most of which are boutique, family-run businesses, Margaret River is unique in Australia. Let’s explore the wineries together.

Sunset across the vineyards at Vasse Felix

Vasse Felix planted the first vines here in 1967 and the region has grown into a modern-day classic. Thanks to its isolation, however, Margaret River wineries are mostly small, family-run operations focused on quality and sustainability.

With these conditions, the wineries of Margaret River continue to dominate the Australian wine landscape in terms of quality and ageability.

Welcome to UMAMU Estate. We create exquisite, handcrafted Australian wine from the Margaret River wine region. Each bottle is deliberately and meticulously created – from the delicate balance tasted within each glass, to the touches of family handwriting and messages on our labels. Our philosophy has always been to give our Margaret River wine time to develop age in the bottle before release, a rarity in today’s online wine market. Enjoying wines when they are ready to drink – rather than straight after bottling – is the reason our Margaret River wines have developed bags of character.
