Skigh Wines
A brief history
We started making wine under the ‘Skigh’ label in 2016, sourcing fruit from some amazing sites in Margaret River. We still work closely with these same growers, while extending our sourcing to The Great Southern, farming our own vines and seeking out a few other special parcels around WA.
Winemaker Skigh McManus got started in the industry at Howard Park in Denmark when he first finished school. Fast forward 25 years through vintages in New Zealand, Canada, America, Spain, France and Western Australia and the time was ripe to explore his own expressions of what WA wines can be.
With all the wines we make, we're looking for balance and drinkability. Gentle, spontaneous ferments using native yeasts, no additions where pragmatic, natural acidity and minimal sulphur at bottling, leads to well-balanced wines that are approachable and alive while maintaining a sense of place. The wines are made organically, are vegan friendly and ultimately come from a desire to create wines we want to drink and proudly share.
