Nose

Delightful violet and cherry aroma with rich earthiness and a hint of cut cedar.

Palate

A silky, crisp wine with plenty of mid palate fire power with firm tannins integrated and lots of fruit to back it up.

Growing Conditions

The fruit was sourced from our small Merlot vineyard in the Geographe Region of Western Australia. This vineyard is established on Tuart sandy loam soils and receives cooling breezes from the Indian Ocean. After below average winter rainfall, the growing season was drier and warmer than usual with some extremely hot weather late in January, all leading to an earlier harvest with reduced yields.

Winemaking

Ten months in French oak barrels and one American oak barrel to allow the natural expression of the fruit in the wine and develop good oak integration into the wine.

Aging

Merlot from this block has proved long lived with cellaring potential of 10-15 years.

Appearance

A bright deep ruby colour, a rich, medium bodied wine.

Food Pairing

This Merlot will match strongly flavoured fish dishes, pasta, pizza, white and light red meat dishes.
