Nose
Aromas of crushed nectarine and lemon curd are dappled with subtle hints of flint and light honey.
Palate
The palate is fresh, vibrant and complex, boasting a lemony tartness on the entry quickly leading to creamy oak and spice tones driven by succulent acidity and a clean graphite and oyster shell finish.
Growing Conditions
The fruit is from our small vineyard in the Margaret River region of Western Australia which is established on Treeton loam soils and receives cooling breezes from the Indian Ocean. This single estate vineyard in Rosa Glen has nearly 1.3ha of 35 year old vines. Originally established dry farmed, although now irrigated, these vines produce only moderate yields of approximately 6 tonnes per hectare with just under 8t being harvested on 24th Feb.
Winemaking
40% of juice was fermented in French Oak barrels, of which 15% were new. The remaining 60% was fermented in stainless steel. Both portions were lees stirred, for additional textural development, for 4 months before being racked together, lightly fined and filtered before bottling.
Aging
Cellar up to 8 years from vintage to enjoy the characters of matured Semillon.
Appearance
Pale straw with lime green hues.
Food Pairing
This Semillon matches fish meals e.g. crispy skinned salmon or pasta and white meat dishes.
