Nose
This SSB has herbal characters on the nose with light tones of lemon zest and straw.
Palate
The palate is lively with good fruit intensity displaying a degree of complexity.
Growing Conditions
75% Semillon, 25% Sauvignon Blanc.
The fruit is sourced from our small family owned vineyard in Rosa Glen within the Margaret River wine region. This vineyard is established on Treeton loam soils and receives cooling breezes from the Southern Ocean. Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc are particularly suited to the Rosa Glen area usually providing citrus characters with a herbaceous zest. Originally dry farmed, the vines are now frugally irrigated to yield about 7 tonnes per hectare. In 2011 a drier winter and little spring rain progressing to a warm dry summer leading to a compressed and somewhat earlier harvest.
Aging
The Semillon will come more to the fore with age providing a more mineral texture and ensuring the wine will age well, cellar up to 8 years.
Appearance
A bright straw colour.
Food Pairing
This SSB shows superbly with food; match it with light French, Italian and Japanese meals.
