Nose

Frames intense aromas of ripe blood plums and black cherries with exotic notes of cigar box, cassis and savoury spice.

Palate

The palate is sumptuously layered with brooding dark fruits, plums and red cherry, with a peppery hint of spice and vanilla pod. An unmistakable French oak influence adds a beguiling savoury complexity and extraordinary length finishing with soft acid line and velvety tannins.

Winemaking

Each of the main components were fermented and matured independently for the first 12 months, the Cabernets in new French Oak and the Merlot and Malbec in one year-old French oak barrels. They were then blended and transferred into one and two year old oak for a further 12 months before a final transfer into older oak barrels to complete a slow maturation, without further undue oak influence. In late 2013 the wine was transferred from oak barrels to Stainless Steel tanks to be finally filtered and fined before bottling. At that time a small proportion of super-premium 2012 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon was added to create a freshness and vitality
