Growing Conditions

The 2009 vintage at Cullen Wines was so outstanding that Vanya has referred to it as the Mozart vintage because all of the white and red wines produced in this year are in perfect harmony and balance. Good rainfall in the Spring of 2008 resulted in excellent development of the vines and the provision of underground moisture for the lead-up to vintage. A small amount of rainfall in January 2009 was followed by little or no rainfall and no unduly hot weather in the following two months, during which the vast majority of fruit was harvested.

Winemaking

This sparkling wine was vintaged in 2009 and disgorged in 2013 after 42months on lees. These Chardonnay grapes were picked from the Block 1 Vineyard to produce a vibrant, fresh and complex wine. Whole bunches were pressed, spontaneously fermented and then aged in French oak for 12 months.

Appearance

Light bright golden colour.

Food Pairing

Open ravioli of crab with beurre blanc.
