Nose
A lifted and complex nose, with tones of passionfruit pulp and lemon zest intertwined with flinty notes of wet slate, with a subtle roasted almond character lingering in the background.
Palate
The palate walks the line between savoury and fruit driven with perfection. The mid palate is subtle and fleshing with nashi pear and gooseberry. The finish shows cashew and a beautiful smoky note. Acidity is balanced and long. A full flavoured, balanced and complex version of a Margaret River stalwart.
Growing Conditions
Semillon from the Rocky Road Vineyard in the southern part of the Margaret River region. Sauvignon Blanc from the Burnside Vineyard which is one of the older sites for Sauvignon Blanc in Margaret River planted in 1983
Winemaking
After desirable conditions during flowering, the summer started cool and wet, slowing down the growing season significantly. Conditions improved in late February, developing into a perfect Indian summer. The result is whites that are packed with energy and poise, and reds that got the benefit of a long, cool ripening periods; tannin ripeness and complex flavour developments. Alcohols are lower than previous years, even with greater physiological ripeness.
