Nose

Aromas of cassis, raspberry and hints of vanillin which intermingle with cedary oak and hints of allspice.

Palate

The tannins have a firm, yet velvety grip which gently fills the palate and demands
protein. This wine is enjoyable now for its youth, freshness, and direct translation of a single site and season.

Growing Conditions

The warmer weather conditions brought forward vintage by between 2 to 3 weeks ahead of the regional average for both whites and reds. 2012 whites and reds are rated as outstanding, universally declared as show stopping brilliant. 2012, once again providing for clean precise fruit flavours.

Winemaking

The fruit was hand-picked, de-stemmed and the berries just split to allow for minimal breakdown of the skin and to preserve the natural fruit freshness. The grapes were pumped over three times a day for 18 days, after which the wine was separated from the skins and allowed to finish fermentation in premium French oak barriques. The wine is aged in 45% new oak barrels for 18 months, after which it was blended, clarified and bottled.

Aging

Up to 15 years, however we enjoy it for freshness now.

Appearance

Dense red and purple tones.
