Growing Conditions

Growing season had higher than average rain
events late in the winter, followed by another one in early
spring which increased soil moisture. October conditions
were unseasonably warm, and combined with the increased
soil moisture caused slightly higher than normal vine growth.
The growing period was longer and milder which favoured
the earlier ripening varieties - overall a challenging, cooler
vintage resulting in leaner, elegant more complex, austere
styles.

Winemaking

Pinot Gris was picked at optimum ripeness during
the coolest period of the night to help retain the vibrant
primary fruit flavours. It was transported directly to the
winery post-harvest, crushed and pressed to tank and
allowed to cold settle. 48 hours later the juice was cleanly
racked and inoculated. The ferment temperature was kept at
around 13-14 °C to help retain the primary fruit aromas while
also developing a complex fermentation bouquet and
increased palate weight. Post fermentation the wine was left
on lees for ~3 months to help increase texture. After the
maturation period the wine was fined with traditional
additives, cold stabilized and bottled.

Aging

3 - 5 years.
