Nose
Expressive blue and black fruits, with a lick of whole bunch stalkiness
Palate
Medium-bodied, juicy, fresh, inviting & totally delicious. Brightly fruited, with lifted raspberry, blueberry, & blackcurrant flavours that are perfectly framed by soft tannins & balanced acidity
Growing Conditions
A wet winter & spring impacted fruit set, leading to reduced yields. Yet 2022 was an outstanding vintage. Warm, dry conditions in summer & autumn provided exceptional growing & ripening conditions. Bird pressure was greatly reduced due to strong flowering of native flora. Remarkable quality

13.2 Be° off the Higher Plane vineyard in Karridale

The wine was bottled on 7th November 2022
Winemaking
Fruit was handpicked directly into a gassed holding vessel, then the vessel had all oxygen expelled from it by saturating it with carbon dioxide & it was then sealed up for 14 days. These conditions allow carbonic maceration to occur - an enzymatic fermentation within the berry which unlocks delicious, lifted berry fruits. The fruit was then crushed & fermented in an open fermenter for 6 days where it was hand-plunged twice a day. Sequential inoculation of malolactic fermentation bacteria followed, and the wine was then racked to barrel. Unfined, lightly filtered. Vegan friendly.
