Nose

Raspberries and blueberries jump out of the glass with a hint of black pepper.

Palate

Medium-bodied, rounded, generous, inky, & energetic. Lifted, expressive aromatics of deep rich fruit notes are coupled with a suggestion of sherbet confectionary. A lick of whole-bunch tannin ties the palate together on a long finish

Growing Conditions

A wet winter & spring impacted fruit set, leading to reduced yields. Yet, 2022 was an outstanding vintage. Warm, dry conditions in summer & autumn provided exceptional growing & ripening conditions. Bird pressure was greatly reduced due to strong flowering of native flora. Remarkable quality

Harvest

The fruit was harvested on 19th March 2022 at 12.8° Bé from a single block of 15-year-old PT15 clone vines

Bottling

Bottled December 2022

Winemaking

Fermented in a static fermenter & pumped over two – three times a day, spending six days on skins, then pressed off early to retain fruitfulness & generosity. 33% of this Syrah underwent carbonic maceration for 14 days. This portion provides bright fruit, a floral lift, & a light stalk character. Unfined & vegan friendly

Aging

Barrel maturation for seven months in neutral, large format French oak

Appearance

Vibrant deep purple

Food Pairing

Italian bean casserole or Margaret River venison tenderloin with Porcini mushrooms, served with polenta & a root vegetable salad
