Growing Conditions

The 2017 vintage was a difficult one for the regions growers, summer
rain and constant cool temperatures meant careful management of
vineyards was required to produce premium wines.

Winemaking

Aravina Estate was
spared the worst of the weather allowing us to craft elegant and balanced
reds that typify the special Mesoclimate of the Estate. Two parcels of
Shiraz were used for the blend, the first was the Margaret River selection
clone, open fermented and matured in French oak (15% new). The
second was our BVRC12 Shiraz clone, of which 12% was whole bunce
co-fermented with the other machine harvested component and this was
matured in older French oak barrels. Our polyclonal Tempranillo pick was
late in the season, harvested in mid April and open fermented with 16
days post ferment maceration to soften and resolve the ample tannins in
this great variety.
All 3 components spent 12 months maturing in oak before
being blended and fined using natural products.

3 - 8 years.
