Nose

Typical of these varieties, aromas from this wine are of cassis and red berry fruits undertones and finishing with vanilla from the oak.

Palate

The palate is long with cassis and red fruits and drying tannins. The lasting impression is the Merlot on the back palate

Growing Conditions

Quartz gravel, sandy loam and non wettable sandy loam. Black sandy loam over limestone, unique to Margaret River.

Winemaking

Basket pressed with fermentation in open vats to ensure gentle tannin extraction. Secondary ferment in 100% French Oak barriques for 24 months. The oak used is 33% new oak and the balance of 1 and 2 year old oak. Minimal intervention when bottled.
