Nose
Wonderfully perfumed, ripe blueberries, mulberries and black plums with lifted
violets and a hint of chocolate.
Palate
A generous wine, plump entrance with a fruity core. This wine is layered with
plums, mulberries and inky fruits of the forest. The complexity and layers are refined with fine
tannins and a long, lingering finish.
Growing Conditions
Overall, 2019 was a good vintage, though appearing to be one of the longest many had
experienced, with late ripening varieties. A challenging vintage, where the hard work in the
vineyard was rewarded greatly with some smashing flavour profiles brought to life.
Winemaking
Hand-picked and sorted fruit, the fruit spends 3 days cold soaking to enhance and extract the
aroma and flavour compounds. Fermentation began in stainless steel vats with 10 days of
contact on skins. Afterwards, the wine is pressed into a mixture of French and American oak
barrels. After around 14 months of oak maturation, the wine was blended back into a stainless steel vat, filtered and bottled. Minimal intervention winemaking allows this powerful varietal to speak for itself.
Aging
14 months on oak.
Appearance
Deep red with purple hues.
