Nose

The resultant wine is as one would expect a brilliant example of a Margaret River Malbec full of juicy fruit and fresh tobacco aromas,

Palate

powerful on the palate with a fruit blast, chocolate, sweet spice and firm tannins.

Winemaking

Yes! It is here once again. As with all our St Johns wines there has to be a minimum acceptable quality for any wine to be bottled under the St Johns label. We grow 1 hectare of Malbec on the estate and it is done so to be added to our St Johns Cabernet blend. Malbec is fast becoming a very popular wine style largely thanks to the Argentinians. Here in Margaret River it is a variety that can experience both good and better years. Just because it is a good year doesn’t mean it is good enough to be released as a straight Malbec, but in a great year, generally with a longer ripening period it can be amazing. In 2016 the Malbec was picked at its optimal ripeness thanks to a longer ripening period.
