Nose
Pear, stone-fruit and melon, with layers of wild herbs, subtle spice and a savourytwist of
fresh bread.
Palate
Wonderfully fresh, flavoursome and subtly textural and complex. An original, pure and
exciting expression of Margaret River Chardonnay.
Growing Conditions
A prolonged cool and wet growing season meant the vines were lush and healthy heading into ripening.
This resulted in later harvest dates, accentuated by ripening through the wettest and coolest February
and March in Margaret River for more than 15 years. These conditions produced highly aromatic whites,
which were balanced by an extremely dry April that allowed the last of the white varieties to achieve full
ripeness.
Winemaking
Our vineyard used for this wine consistently produces fruit with rich yet fresh flavours early in the season
with the ideal balance to allow this wine to be released early without sacrificing texture or complexity.
Cool, cloudy juice went into one year old French oak barriques direct from the press. Here it was wild
fermented to impart textural complexity, savoury elements and a distinct house style. On completion of
fermentation, each barrel was topped and stirred fortnightly until bottled.
Appearance
Brilliant condition. Pale straw in colour with a fresh green rim.
Food Pairing
Fresh oysters.
