Nose

Heralds aromas of dark red berries and eastern spice with hints of musk.

Palate

The complex, rich palate of black cherries is layered with chicory and Madagascan vanilla pod, with a grind of white pepper. Finished in a combo of French and American oak, the wine displays a signature complex Margaret River character, with distinctive soft tannins.

Growing Conditions

Margaret River has again turned on an outstanding vintage 2014 for Shiraz, particularly with the premium Willyabrup sub-region experiencing almost perfect ripening conditions.

Winemaking

Inspired by the Syrahs of Frances’ northern Rhone Valley the fruit was de-stemmed, berry sorted, cold soaked and then traditionally open pot fermented, with minimum intervention. It was then matured primarily in French oak, with a few toasty American barrels for added backbone, until final filtering and bottling. It shows a typical fine and elegant structure, showcasing the variety’s refined fruit and signature floral and spice characters.
