Nose

Lifted notes of mulberry and plums intertwined with both floral and peppery nuance.

Palate

Medium-bodied with great drive and length of flavour. Vibrancy and purity of fruit are at the forefront of the style.

Harvest

The 2018 vintage in Margaret River was extraordinarily good and one that winemakers always hope for. The season commenced with the winter and the first month of spring all being wet (all over the long-term rainfall average). This set up vine health very well especially as it was coupled with ideal temperatures from September to December inclusive (budburst onwards) – no cold periods and even maximums devoid of heat spikes.

Winemaking

Sourced primarily from our mature vineyards in the Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River, this wine also contains one very special parcel of fruit from the more southern Karridale sub-region.

Hand-picked and cold soaked with a portion of whole bunch fermentation. This wine was aged in a combination of new and seasoned French oak for 12 months which led to lovely, savoury and peppery aromatics that define the unique style of Redbrook Estate Shiraz.

Appearance

Deep purple-black with a bright, red rim.

Food Pairing

Slow cooked pork shoulder with fennel and rosemary roasted pumpkin.
