Nose
Beguiling red & black fruits garlanded with Mediterranean herbs, a touch of mocha & vanillin oak
Palate
Full-bodied, bold & muscular. Powerfully fleshy concentrated Cabernet fruit is corseted by chewy but ripe tannins & gossamer-like acidity. Formidable length
Growing Conditions
Good winter rainfall had prepared the vineyard for the season, & a dry, warm spring looked like vintage would be early, but December was cooler & a rain event in January & cool nighttime temperatures pushed the red harvest back & Cabernet in particular benefited from this with perfectly ripened tannins & an abundance of perfume
Harvest
A single dry grown block at the top of the hill of the original Wilyabrup vineyard (Block 7) provides the fruit for this wine.
Bottling
Bottled 29th January 2018

Aging
The wine underwent maturation in French barriques for 18 months of which half were new.
Appearance
Brilliant deep carmine red in appearance
