Growing Conditions
An outstanding vintage. The season commenced with a wet start to June when rainfall was 30% above average. From this point onwards the months dried to below average rainfall & maximum temperatures crept up above the long-term averages. Lower yields, but very high quality
Harvest
100% Gingin clone hand-picked from our Karridale property (1997 plantings) between 12.1°Bé to 12.7°Bé from 5th to 10th February. The site is sustainably farmed following organic principles
Bottling
The wine was bottled on 28th January 2021
Winemaking
Whole-bunch pressed straight to barrel undergoing a wild yeast fermentation with some lees stirring in the first two months. No MLF.
Aging
The wine was aged for nine months in French oak barriques, of which 30% were new, the remainder, one, two & three year old,
