Nose

Obvious blackberries and blackcurrants with underlying notes of spiced rhubarb.

Palate

Sweet berry flavours up front, balanced with mocha, cedar spice notes. Soft silky tannins give plenty of weight and texture. Drinking beautifully now, but will cellar and mature nicely for a few years yet.

Growing Conditions

A warm start to the spring growing season had early vine growth well ahead of normal. This turned around with a cooler start to summer and had both varieties harvested in optimum condition, showing full flavours by early March. 2015 is a strong vintage, particularly for the reds.

Winemaking

Immediately after harvest the fruit was destemmed and crushed. Twice daily pump overs were used for extraction and cap management during the fermentation which took place using selected yeast strains. After the completion of both the yeast fermentation and malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged in older french oak barriques before blending and bottling.

Appearance

Plum red.
