Nose

Plums, blueberries and a hint of spice.

Palate

This wine is a medium-bodied, easy drinking wine which is all about the fruit. Lots of plums up front, with blue and red berries supporting. The tannins are silky smooth and combine with a gentle acid to give this wine a great line through the mouth. Minimal oak is all to support the fruit. Enjoy.

Growing Conditions

A warm start to the spring growing season had early vine growth well ahead of normal. This turned around with a cooler start to summer and had both varieties harvested in optimum condition, showing full flavours by early March. 2015 is a strong vintage, particularly for the reds.

Winemaking

Immediately after harvest this fruit was destemmed and crushed to 20 tonne static fermenters. Pumpovers were used for extraction and cap management during the fermentation which took place using a selected yeast strain. After fermentation the wine was drained, skins pressed with the pressings going back in with the free-run wine. The wine was then inoculated with a known MLF strain. Post this fermentation, the wine was aged in french oak barrels for 9 months before blending and bottling.
