Nose

Cool vintage thistle and peppermint characters are
supported by traditional lemon/lime freshness, ginger spice and a
hint of paw-paw richness.

Palate

Crisp tropical fruit and tangy citrus flavours dominate the
entrance and mid palate, while the mouth-watering acidity
supports excellent length. The finish is soft and delicious, yet
super clean, making for a wonderfully versatile white wine.

Growing Conditions

2017 was a cooler and later vintage than the previous 10 years; a
year of elegant, perhaps slightly lighter bodied wines, though ripe
in flavour, vibrant and very perfumed. Higher than average yields
in combination with a cooler season contributed to delayed
ripening of the fruit and good acid retention. Some timely
warmth and sunshine occurred throughout January, although
February temperatures remained moderate with some rainfall.
With the cooler weather, canopy management and fruit thinning
was imperative to mitigate disease pressures and allow for even,
persistent ripening. There was a warm start to March to finish the
white harvest, followed by the driest April since 1982, finishing
the reds beautifully.

Winemaking

Semillon's citrus and floral notes are complemented by the
tropical passionfruit aromatics of Sauvignon Blanc. These
varieties are picked at reasonably low Baume, capturing fine
high-note aromas, crisp primary fruit flavours and good acid
structure. The Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc juices are then
fermented under cool conditions using specially selected yeasts
to ensure the varietal characters are accentuated. This wine was
fermented without the use of oak for pure fruit expression

Appearance

Brilliant straw green.
