Aromas of dark fruits, spice and mocha are rich and enticing.
The two clones used (60% Clone 5 and 40% Clone 337) bring the complexity to the overall mouth feel. The characters from one are dominated by forest fruits and subtle herbaceous notes, the other contributes to the bones of the wine and the lingering finish.
A vintage that started and finished a little earlier due to warm summer conditions. Although yields were down the quality was exceptional showcasing the 2020 vintage as a true standout year.
The fruit was hand picked then crushed and transferred to open top fermenters where it was hand plunged. It underwent extended skin contact for 28 days and then was basket pressed into French oak, 41% new. Maturation for 14 months in oak.
The best way to enjoy this is with a huge pile of marinated beef ribs done over a traditional charcoal style BBQ.
