Nose

The bouquet is complex & alluring revealing spiced pear & apple, white stone fruits, grapefruit, lemon zest, hints of flint, hazelnuts & toasty brioche

Palate

Simultaneously tightly wound yet showing generous depth; the flavours perfectly echoing the aromas, the saline, mineral-like acidity providing the perfect foil. The finish is exceptionally long, all elements in perfect harmony

Growing Conditions

2019 was a cool vintage where picking was approximately three weeks later than the long-term average. A labour-intensive season, which despite the challenges of birds & disease, has produced some superb Chardonnay from the region

Harvest

The Gingin & Clone 95 clones were selectively hand-picked from our Wilyabrup vineyard on 27th February 2019. Gingin was also hand-picked from our Karridale property on 8th & 14th March 2019. Both properties are sustainably farmed following organic principles

Bottling

The wine was bottled on 19th June 2020

Winemaking

The southerly Karridale fruit comprises 73% of the blend, the northerly Wilyabrup fruit, 27%. The crop was whole-bunch pressed straight to barrel for 'free range' fermentation. 10 months barrel-aging followed in French barriques (of which 45% were new) with lees-stirring every three to four weeks

Appearance
