Nose
The nose shows distinct vineyard character & lovely clarity of fruit. Notes of cumquat, orange blossom & white flowers
Palate
The palate is held together by a fine chalky texture & vibrant sweet citrussy acidity. The warmer season results in a wine with generous weight, yet balanced acidity. Tangerine, almond meal & lemon pith are complemented with a moreish savoury element from barrel fermentation
Growing Conditions
2024 started early, was both dry & warm, yet the whites exceeded expectations with their precision, freshness, & natural acidity. Bird pressure was greatly reduced due to strong & prolonged flowering of the native Marri blossom
Harvest
Hand-picked from a single block on 2nd February 2024 a full month earlier than the previous vintage. The vineyard is unirrigated and certified sustainable and was established in 1973
Bottling
Bottled in September 2024
Winemaking
100% Semillon was pressed straight to barrel & underwent a wild yeast fermentation, with occasional stirring to build texture.
Aging
The wine was aged for nine months in older French puncheons & barriques
Appearance
Pale straw in colour
Food Pairing
Salad of grilled baby calamari, radicchio & potatoes, or grilled corn on the cob with lime & chilli butter
