Nose

Vibrant & aromatic, suggestive of blue & red fruits, with hints of bay leaf, vanilla, spice & cedar

Palate

Medium-bodied with lifted & expressive Cabernet fruit flavours, biscuity oak, smooth, refined tannins & tremendous length

Growing Conditions

The season started with a long, wet winter. The cool conditions saw the latest start to vintage for 11 years, but a plentiful and glorious crop. Rain at the end of March necessitated dropping bunches to remove diseased clusters, and to allow the remaining fruit to achieve both flavour and sugar ripeness, and to recover to their full intensity. Cabernet Sauvignon was a standout variety this year

Harvest

A single vineyard wine sourced from our Karridale property in the southern part of Margaret River, which is sustainably farmed following organic practices. The Cabernet Sauvignon was picked on 22nd April at 13.1° Bé & the Malbec picked on 21st April at 13.8° Bé

Bottling

Bottled 1st November 2018

Winemaking

The fruit was selectively picked, then sorted for optimum quality. The fruit spent 17 days on skins to extract colour, tannin & flavour, with fermentation taking place in one tonne hand-plunged open fermenters.

Aging

Matured in French barriques for 18 months, followed by barrel selection & blending, resulting in 50% new oak in the final blend.

Appearance

Deep red
