Nose

Blackberry, mulberry, & cassis notes are complemented by aromatic red fruits, & a hint of spiced small goods.

Palate

Medium to full-bodied in weight, the palate reveals juicy cranberry, cherry, & plum fruit flavours with richness throughout, balanced by bright acidity & fine ripe tannins. Elegant, with superb oak integration & significant length

Growing Conditions

Good Spring rains in 2013 charged our dry grown vineyard soils, & temperatures were very constant - mild to warm with no extremes. We experienced neither disease nor bird pressure, & the weather was ideal resulting in an excellent vintage.

Harvest

Sourced entirely from the original estate 1973 plantings, the fruit was harvested by hand in three passes from 6th-16th March at between 13.3 – 14.0 Be°, and yielding just 3.5 tonnes / Ha

Winemaking

Following de-stemming & sorting, the grapes were cold-soaked for four days prior to fermentation, and left 13-18 days on skins.

Aging

Following barrel maturation for 18 months in French hogsheads (of which 35% were new), individual barrels were selected to create the final blend.
