Nose

The bouquet is fragrant with red & blue-skinned berries, cherries, spice & violets

Palate

The palate is juicy & tangy, finishing dry. Bursting with ripe, fleshy cranberry & cherry flavours, reined in by zesty acidity appropriate for a glou-glou wine

Growing Conditions

A wet winter & spring impacted fruit set, leading to reduced yields. Yet, 2022 was an outstanding vintage. Warm, dry conditions in summer & autumn provided exceptional growing & ripening conditions. Bird pressure was greatly reduced due to strong flowering of native flora. Remarkable quality

Harvest

100% Estate dry-grown Shiraz & Cabernet from 49-year old vines were hand-harvested on 25th February & 1st March at 12.8° Bé & 13.2° Bé respectively from our Wilyabrup site. The Tempranillo component was hand-picked on 10th March at 12.6° Bé from our Karridale property. Both vineyards are sustainably farmed following organic principles

Bottling

The wine was bottled on 15th August 2022

Winemaking

A blend of Shiraz (62%), Cabernet Sauvignon (23%) & Tempranillo (15%) that underwent whole-bunch carbonic maceration for 14 days before being destemmed & fermented wild on skins for a few more days. It was pressed off prior to completion & finished ferment in neutral French puncheons & hogsheads. Vegan friendly

Appearance

Bright ruby red in colour

Food Pairing

Excellent with charcuterie, a selection of cheeses, cornichons, radishes, butter & a crusty baguette
