Growing Conditions

2022 was an outstanding vintage. Warm, dry conditions in summer & autumn provided exceptional growing & ripening conditions. Bird pressure was greatly reduced due to strong flowering of native flora

Five different clones of Tempranillo were hand-picked (98.5% of blend) picked off a single block (block 20) on 10th, 19th & 25th March 2022 on our Karridale site. Graciano (1.5% of blend) from block 19 was picked on 17th March 2022 & co-fermented with the second Tempranillo pick

Bottled August 2023

Once fermentation was underway, the fruit was hand- plunged two to three times a day in open top barrels. One batch of Tempranillo was put through carbonic maceration. Batches were left between 7-10 days on skins. softening the tannins. MLF was carried out in barrel creating a smoother, rounder mouthfeel.

14 months maturation followed in a mix of 300L hogsheads & 500L puncheons – no new oak was used.
