Nose

An abundance of red fruits spill from the glass: raspberry, red currant & cherry with a lick of cassis & a red liquorice twist. Oak contributes subtle cedar & vanilla

Palate

Medium to full-bodied & silky in the mouth. The palate is driven by bright, juicy red fruits & a hint of dark chocolate. Impeccably balanced acid, discreet oak, glossy tannins & remarkable length make this a compelling proposition

Growing Conditions

An outstanding vintage. The season commenced with a wet start to June when rainfall was 30% above average. From this point onwards the months dried to below average rainfall & maximum temperatures crept up above the long-term averages. Lower yields, but very high quality

Harvest

The fruit was sourced from our Wilyabrup vineyard, our Metricup site & our Karridale vineyard, all of which are sustainably farmed following organic practices,

Bottling

The wine was bottled in November 2021

Winemaking

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (85%), Merlot (9.8%), Cabernet Franc (2.2%), Malbec (2%), & Petit Verdot (1%). All the varieties were fermented separately in a mix of open & closed fermenters & spent between eight to 21 days on skins. Further aging in oak in separate batches took place until blending.

Aging

Aged for a minimum of 14 months in barrel (10% new French)

Appearance

Brilliant crimson/scarlet in colour

Food Pairing

Lamb shanks with olives & red wine, or herbed stuffed mushrooms
